Is Tri Club for me?

We welcome all members of the Columbia University community, from undergraduates to graduate students, from faculty and staff to alumni.  In fact, the only requirement to join is having a Dodge Fitness Center membership!  So please, come one, come all!

Triathlon is a quickly growing sport and is witnessing thousands of new athletes hitting the pavement and diving in every year.  We are proud to play our part in this exciting growth, as every year we have several of our members complete their first triathlon ever!  Many newcomers to the sport are hesitant to join a club due to insecurities in their paces or a lack of experience.  This is simply not a fear to have when considering this club, as we have members of all speeds and experience levels.

Being a part of this sort of community provides for you the ability to ask questions, learn from those with more experience, and improve your times and your fitness faster than you could have imagined!

Although we prioritize getting new athletes through their first races, we also provide a highly competitive arena for the more experienced triathletes to test their limits.  We are a part of the Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference, which provides five races every Fall season to compete against the other universities in the Northeast region.  If you are looking for a highly competitive club that will take you to races throughout the Northeast and even the country, and will pit you against some of the best triathletes this world has to offer, then this is the club for you!

We can simultaneously accommodate beginners and 5-time Iron Men alike for many reasons.  One such reason is that all of the races we compete in, including the NECTC races, are scored by only taking the top times for each team.  Therefore, the athletes that are looking to compete at high levels can do so and contribute to the team's score, and those who are looking to take up triathlon as a hobby or a fitness regimen can do so without feeling the pressure of needing to score for the team.

How do I join?

We have a new registration and dues system this year through Club Sports.  It will open on the first day of classes, but feel to contact us if you have any questions or want to get started early!

Dues can be found here.

Also, subscribe to our mailing list for club news, events, races, and practices!

Ok, but what do I get out of being a member?

1) FREE access to NECTC races (you will be reimbursed as long as you show up to the start line of the race) and various NYRR running races

2) FREE lodging and transportation to these races and events

3) Access to our equipment loan program starting this fall (eg. borrow bikes and wetsuits)

4) Group runs, bike rides and trainer sessions, and access to private sessions at Uris Pool

5) Discounts on all of the sweet, custom apparel that we sell

6) The opportunity to join a community of triathletes, from beginners to experts, to work out with, learn from, travel with, and party with post-race (ain't no party like a post-race party!)

What's your race schedule?

This fall we will be following the NECTC race schedule starting with Lake George.  We will also be participating in the FirmMan Half, Sprint, and Aquabike Tri in Narragansett, RI.

After the fall triathlon season, we plan on doing several NYRR races including the annual Jingle Bell Jog in December.  More details to come later.

What about practices?

We hold official practices every day of the week, sometimes with multiple workouts a day.  All practices are optional and we encourage our members to attend as many as they can.

This year we are offering master swim classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6:00am at the DFC pool, and regular swims on Sundays at 9:00am.  Run and cycling workouts are still in the works.  We will announce more info closer to the start of classes.
